PhotoWalk – Cantwell Cliffs, Hocking Hills State Park

Photowalking is the act of walking with a camera for the main purpose of taking pictures of things that the photographer may find interesting. Hmm, you learn something everyday.

I have Google and Wikipedia to thank for that definition, and my good friend Ted Orr for the invitation. Although this could be classified as my 500th photowalk it was my first within the Cantwell Cliffs area of Hocking Hills State Park.. Having been to Hocking a few times i’ve never heard of Cantwell Cliffs, so this was a good opportunity to scout out some new areas to photograph. Our weather was horrible, but again there’s a big advantage of having some familiarity with a location for when you return. We knew the conditions were not optimal, but getting out for some RR, regardless, was a welcomed event. Hocking Hills is typically pretty busy in the summer and fall months. There is plenty to do and see with all the falls, Old Man’s Cave , and trails. However, for us photographers Hocking Hills can be just as beautiful during the winter. I think Ted and I came away with a new area to target this winter as we plan our next PhotoWalk…..Hike with Camera!! Enjoy, some of these images were taken last year.

    Millennium Reign Energy Media Day

Recently, I was asked to photograph a media day event for an Ohio company called Millennium Reign Energy. MRE manufactures Hydrogen Generators and Fueling Stations. Imagine heating and powering your house, eating, and driving your car…all with Hydrogen created from renewable energy. The Future is Here! General Motors was on hand to introduce their Hydrogen powered Fuel Cell Vehicle. The two companies are working together to prove that Hydrogen is the best alternative to fossil fuels.
Along with General Motors and MRE I welcome a cleaner and greener future!!

“Badwater” | Death Valley National Park

A few months back I was able to get away for a few days and travel with another landscape photographer Daniel Ewert. Our original plan was to spend 5 days photography Zion National Park. However, due to heavier winter snows and warmer spring weather the water in the Narrows was running a bit fast so portions of the park were closed. *Note: Best time to visit Zion is in the Fall. At the time this was a big disappointment because the Narrows is one of the bigger draws for photographers. Considering we now had some extra time on our hands we decided to head west to Vegas and north to Death Valley. Our decision to make the long drive was well worth it as we had phenomenal weather in Death Valley producing some great images. The extra water in Zion also add some drama in the Subway section of the park as well. So all in all a great trip and two National Parks crossed off the list! Enjoy my images.

“Half Moon Bay” | Cayman Islands

Some times in life you just need to get away! Thankfully our parents had planned a trip to Grand Cayman Island and brought us along. Although the island is relatively small it is packed with all kinds of things to do and see. Grand Cayman is surrounded by reef so diving is a must. However, is some locations there is no reef and the pounding surf has etched away at the coast line. Creating great areas to shoot the rocky coast line and the crashing waves of the Caribbean Sea. The east end of the island is much more remote and away from the touristy spots like 7 mile beach and George Town. There are plenty of secluded bays for snorkeling, inland ponds and marsh areas to check out, and quaint restaurants to eat. All in all a very nice, but very expensive place to vacation. I hope you enjoy some of my images.
